Ms Ss400 Hot Rolled Low Carbon Steel Strip Coil: Premier Quality for Versatile Applications

_0000_1

Application

Hot-rolled steel coils are made of slabs (mainly continuous casting slabs) as raw materials, and after heating, they are made into strip steel by rough rolling units and finishing rolling units. The hot steel strip from the last rolling mill of the finishing mill is cooled to the set temperature by laminar flow and then rolled into a steel strip coil by the coiler. After cooling, according to different needs of users, the steel strip coils are processed into steel plates, flat coils, and longitudinal steel strip products through different finishing lines (leveling, straightening, cross-cutting or slitting, inspection, weighing, packaging and marking).

Product Advantages

1.Hot rolling can significantly reduce energy consumption and reduce costs. During hot rolling, the metal has high plasticity and low deformation resistance, which greatly reduces the energy consumption of metal deformation.

2.Hot rolling can improve the processing performance of metals and alloys. The coarse grains in the cast state will be broken, and the significant cracks will heal, reduce or eliminate the casting defects, transform the cast structure into a deformed structure, and improve the processing performance of the alloy.

3.Hot rolling usually adopts large ingots and large reduction rolling, which not only improves the production efficiency but also creates conditions for increasing the rolling speed, realizing the continuity and automation of the rolling process.

Key Features

1.Chemical Composition: SS400 is a general structural steel with a low carbon content (typically below 0.2%), making it a mild steel. It also contains silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), sulfur (S), and phosphorus (P), with specific limits set for the latter two elements.

2.Mechanical Properties: The yield strength of SS400 varies depending on the thickness of the steel, but it is generally designed to have a minimum tensile strength of 400 MPa. It exhibits good ductility and plasticity, allowing for easy forming and bending.

3.Surface Quality: Hot rolled steel strip coils typically have a rougher surface finish compared to cold-rolled products, due to the scale formed during the heating and rolling process. However, the surface quality is generally suitable for most applications, and further surface treatment can be applied if required.

4.Weldability: SS400 steel exhibits good welding properties, making it ideal for fabrication processes that involve welding. The low carbon content minimizes the risk of weld cracking and ensures good joint strength.

5.Cost-Effectiveness: SS400 steel is widely available and relatively inexpensive, making it a cost-effective choice for various applications where high strength and good formability are required.
